vw prick wagon
Back in the day they used to love Pricks in Sweden!
Pricks was a massively popular confectionary company founded in 1933 by Sigge Eriksson and Rune Lövgren. In 1944 they opened ‘Pricks Gingerbread Factory’ to keep up with the demand & the lads ran the business until 1968 until they retired.
After the 2nd world war the Pricks lad’s needed a new fleet of delivery vehicles and decided on the humble VW Split screen to be their van of choice. In 1952 one of the vans was in a bit of a smash and the front end was completely crushed. The van was written off and abandoned in the woods and left to rot. It’s only use was to store wood.
Luckily for this split screen, Johan Carlsson was born and once he heard the story he made it his mission to track it down and that he did!
Years of tireless restoration work has brought this Prick mobile back form the dead and now it is living it’s best life on the Island of Gotland in the Baltic sea.
Big thank you to Johan for letting us come by for a cuppa and shoot the van. Check his INSTAGRAM for more photos
