"On a warm Saturday afternoon, motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at the Wild Idol Saloon, a neighbourhood watering hole in the small town of Byron, California just outside of Stockton, to celebrate the second annual Slither event. Hosted by clothing designer mega babes Misty Laituri and Kaelyn Cobra, the Slither provided a full day of festivities and fun with custom bikes, vendors, live bands, on-site tattooing, food, booze and much more.

The Slither served as a kick-ass kick-off to the various shows and events throughout the summer with bikers visiting from the Bay and beyond to enjoy an afternoon of hanging out with friends old and new.

Laituri and Cobra started the Slither when they realized there was a void in biker events in Northern California, as well as those geared toward women. Explains Laituri, “Kaelyn and I both vend at motorcycle events all over the US, and we just weren’t seeing that many up here. We wanted to share the experience with the people we love and just throw a party.”

Continues Cobra, “We vend at Born Free, Virginia City, all these big motorcycle events, and we really love the culture and environment. Misty and I both have clothing brands, and my husband plays music and tattoos, and we have been known to do all those things at one show. So, we thought to just throw something ourselves to highlight our brands. Because that’s what we do; we make clothes for this lifestyle.”

Dozens of vendors were on-site, showcasing impossibly cool products ranging from new and vintage clothing, handcrafted jewelry, leather goods, artwork and more. Shelby Cobra Country, Rich Silva, Witches Ride and Lords of Dust rocked the house with a mix of original tunes and covers of familiar favorites.

A highlight of the Slither was the wet t-shirt contest, where several lovely participants competed for the cash prize and the winner was determined by loudest audience cheer (with several tie-breaking cheers required to make a fair judgement call).

Adds Laituri, “We wanted to create something that encouraged more women to show up and have fun, and I think we succeeded in that. This is the first biker event where you really see a 50/50 split in attendance of women and men who are equally excited to be there.”
